Solution Focused Therapy Institute describes Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) as a goal-focused evidence-based therapeutic approach that incorporates positive psychology principles and practices by constructing solutions rather than focusing on problems. 

SFT is a positive emotion eliciting, a future-oriented vehicle for formulating, motivating, achieving, and sustaining desired behavioral change.

SFT has studies shown to work with presenting problems such as depression, stress, anxiety, behavioral problems, parenting, and psychosocial and interpersonal problems in children, adolescents, and adults.

We utilize SFT with clients by first describing how their life will be different when the problem has decreased or when their situation has improved. We then examine the client’s life experiences and behaviors to discover the necessary resources to develop a practical, logical, and sustainable solution.
