Trauma & PTSD
Trauma is an emotional response of our nervous system to an event or series of events perceived to be threatening to us or others we care about.
At Healing Time Therapy, we provide teletherapy for adults, parents, teenagers, and families going through anxiety, trauma, high stress, anger, or difficult changes in their lives.
Integrating customized tools, techniques, and mindfulness approaches tailored to our clients help them move toward living a more peaceful life.
We utilize evidenced-based therapies such as EMDR, CBT, and Solution Focused Therapy while helping them explore their personal issues and identify healthier ways of thinking and problem-solving in a supportive, safe environment.
We work collaboratively with our clients by helping them through challenging situations and exploring new directions for their life. We support clients to find their way and bring them peace, comfort, and healing.
Trauma is an emotional response of our nervous system to an event or series of events perceived to be threatening to us or others we care about.
Anxiety can be experienced through our thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations. Sudden feelings of intense anxiety, fear or terror that reach a peak within minutes can result in a panic attack.
High stress can be worry or mental tension caused by difficult situations. Stress can affect your emotions, behaviors, and how you behave. Symptoms of stress can include anxiety, anger, irritability, depression, and overwhelm.
Parenting can be extremely challenging but also rewarding with certain tools and coping strategies. We create a safe space for parents and caregivers to share their struggles and experiences where ever they are in the parenting journey and learn to cope with things they cannot change.
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) helps people learn how to identify and change the negative or distressing thought patterns that have a negative impact on their behavior and emotions.
With CBT treatment, we help clients identify their maladaptive patterns of thinking, emotional responses, or behaviors and replace them with healthier patterns. We assist clients to change their automatic negative thoughts and behaviors with more realistic and desirable thoughts that improve their mental health, mood, and daily functioning.
Family therapy involves family members that want to improve their connection, communication, or solve an issue. Family therapy can consist of multiple family members or spouses.
With family therapy, we look at family issues in different contexts, boundaries within each person, communication styles, and how to provide helpful structural and behavioral modifications in the family environment for healthier outcomes.
We customize and tailor individual therapy for each client. We provide individual therapy for clients who struggle with trauma, anxiety, depression, high stress, relationship issues, parenting struggles, anger, grief, and difficult situations.
We support clients who are in the midst of difficult circumstances or want to process painful experiences that are still affecting them. We guide clients toward a peaceful and empowered life they want to achieve by exploring their needs and goals.
Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) focuses on creating solutions rather than focusing on problems. SFT has been shown to be effective with many areas of mental health.
With SFT treatment, clients are able to gain solutions, relief, and healthier ways of handling stressors in their life. By utilizing the solution focused model, we assist clients to become aware of their solution patterns, assess, and alter or replace those patterns with problem solving strategies.
EMDR is a structured evidence-based therapy that helps clients heal from trauma, anxiety, depression, and other distressing past or present life experiences. EMDR allows client to focus briefly on the distressing memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation such as eye movements.
With EMDR, we help clients heal through our brain as our brains have a natural way of recovering from traumatic memories and events. EMDR is designed to activate the natural healing process in the brain through alternating eye movements, sounds, or taps to decrease the distressing memories and emotions.
